Grabango is the leading provider of checkout-free shopper technology for existing stores. Founded by Will Glaser (former founder & CTO of Pandora Media), the Grabango team has developed the only enterprise class solution for large store chains in the market today.

Grabango has raised over $75 million in funding since 2017, with $39 million in Series B announced in June 2021. The round was led by Commerce Ventures with participation from Founders Fund, Unilever Ventures, Honeywell Ventures, Rich Products Ventures, and WIND Ventures. Grabango has signed five retail partners, each over $1 billion in revenue, including a global top-10 grocer and a Fortune-25 multinational. Several multi-store deployments are underway. The company has filed 40 patents, and the earliest ones that predate most prior art in the category have already been awarded.

Role Overview:

As the Lead User Experience Designer at Grabango, you’ll work hand-in-hand with some of the best product managers and engineers in the field who are eager to have you join! This is a great opportunity to make a big impact at a company with a big mission.  As the first UX designer on the team, you’ll have real ownership and responsibility to drive exceptional UX and Design thinking through our product features.

With responsibility to drive user experience for next-generation, cutting-edge technology, you’ll help build intuitive, easy-to-use product experiences for our retail shopper customers on our mobile app as well as in-store POS experiences.  Plus you’ll work on our critical internal UIs for our computer vision operations teams who interact with real time data that drive the engine of Grabango.

You’ll bring a knack for creating simplistic designs that feel natural and enjoyable to use while delivering business outcomes.  And you love to work cross-functionally with product, marketing and of course, engineers who will bring your solutions to life. 

This position will report directly to the SVP of Product and Marketing and interact often with both the CTO and CEO.

What you'll be doing:

  • User Understanding > deep dive on user experiences, pains and delights.  Lead creative sessions to capture ideas and focus the team on converging toward solutions
  • Improve user experience across touchpoints for both shoppers and internal Computer Vision Operational teams > Create delightful UX that delivers on a feature promise, optimizes for scalability and drives overall business impact. Create wireframes, design iterations and prototypes.
  • Deliver tight UX specifications and high fidelity pixel flawless designs to engineers that also excite and motivate.

What you should have:

  • 5+ years of UX/UI design with experience on both web and mobile
  • Mastery of design process and use of visual design apps (Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite, Invision, Figma, Mural etc.)
  • Strong collaboration and relationship skills. You love working as part of a team and are eager to continue to learn and grow
  • You love to take initiative and are comfortable operating at a fast pace in an entrepreneurial environment. Prior experience at a startup a plus

Educations & Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in design, advertising, art direction, or a related field a plus
